DSC Announces the Launch of its Windows 2000 Pilot Program

Reston, Virginia, May 1, 2000 - Digital Support Corporation (DSC), an information technology (IT) and services organization, is pleased to announce our Windows 2000 Pilot Program. Selected by Microsoft as one of ten providers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, DSC has developed a five-phase program (Inventory, Assessment, Remediation, Test, and Recommendations). The program assists customers in determining their optimal Windows 2000 migration strategies. DSC’s repeatable methodology lays the groundwork to maximize customers’ returns on investment in full implementations of Windows 2000.

Based upon the Microsoft Solutions Framework® and DSC’s previous upgrade, migration, and installation experience, the DSC pilot program gives businesses the opportunity to “test drive” their key business functions and applications within the Windows 2000 environment. Our 15-30 day program puts the user in the driver seat, allowing businesses to assess the feasibility and benefits of Windows 2000 in conjunction with their established applications and functions.

To begin, DSC engineers and technicians conduct a survey of business requirements, hardware, and software, mapping the results against Windows 2000 system and program requirements. DSC then identifies a sample subset of PCs for use in the pilot program, which are representative of not only key business functions and applications but of hardware and software. Before testing begins, DSC corrects any compatibility issues with the subset sample. During the test phase, DSC offers training for personnel. More importantly, DSC conducts end-user assessments. With this assessment, the decision makers are armed with the necessary data – functionality, enhanced features, problem areas, business application performance, and overall evaluation – from their staff to make the decision for implementation. At the end of the program, DSC prepares a detailed report, providing our inventory documentation, test findings, end-user assessment data, cost/benefit analysis, DSC recommendations, and proposal for full rollout of Windows 2000. In addition to our pilot program, DSC offers integration, deployment, licensing, training, and maintenance services.
